As a wife, mother, sister, and friend one of the first things I thought of when being diagnosed was –
How am I going to be great in my relationships when I require so much time, effort, and attention in life?
The answer is to just be me. I can not live a life comparing myself to others around me or on social media. The person I am in this season of my life still deserves love and has the capacity to love others.
For me, the diagnosis made me speed up the process of loving and accepting myself for who I am and who l am not. I do not get it right every day, but I have daily reminders that affirm me and encourage the constantly evolving life that is mine.

The first thing I had to learn with having an autoimmune disease was to take a moment to mourn the old me.
One of the hardest things to do with the diagnosis is to admit that things had in fact changed. As a mother, entrepreneur, and veteran I was used to being able to get up and go workout, be a choreographer, play with my children or even cleaning my own home, but the reality now is that I cannot do all of that. As a matter of fact, I can’t do most of it.
To take care of my body I had to now make different life decisions and that is not easy. I wanted to do what I used to do especially because visually I look the way I have always looked. I am a person of faith, but I had to increase my knowledge of my body and my health. I had to put the attention I used to work outside of the home and direct that energy into learning about me.
If you are going through a life change no matter what the change entails, it is ok to mourn the old you. Acknowledge what was, honor that person from the past so that you can welcome and usher in the new you.
If you do not mourn and put away the old you, your past persona will then become a weighted blanket smothering your new potential. Because don’t forget. just because your different doesn’t mean you’re any less magnificent!

This month we are discussing peaceful sleep. Did you know that sleep is just as important as working out and eating healthy?
When it comes to sleep if you are not getting adequate time or can’t seem to settle your mind down long enough to rest than you may need to adjust your sleeping habits. Below is a list of tips to help you gain the rest you deserve.
- Use your bed only for sleep and sex.
- Make your bedroom quiet and relaxing. Keep the room at a comfortable, cool temperature.
- Limit exposure to bright light in the evenings.
- Turn off electronic devices at least 30 minutes before bedtime.
I have been considering using essential oils in my home. I have heard that there are incredible benefits of using the oils, especially with children. Do any of you use oils or have you tried oils? Tell me what you think, where do I start???
As we get closer to the new year, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by what could have and should have happened this year. I want to offer a moment of clarity. Stop running from the should of, could of, and would of and focus on what is. You are here now and still, have the opportunity to be celebrated in 2018. The potential that was ignited in you from January could still reign true in December. Don’t give up, you can do it! Check out the meditation video and let me know what you think. Selah.
Do you know how to center yourself? We are constantly receiving information from people, social media, employers, magazines and more that shape and mold how we see ourselves and how we experience our life. It is essential for you and me to know how to recalibrate our daily experiences and know how to get quiet in front of GOD.
This is where meditation comes in, Mediation Monday is an intentional opportunity for you to be quiet and allow God to speak to you. Take a moment today and sit in silence. Allow Gods peace to come in and reinvent your day. Selah
it is time to slow the day down and regain some of the peace you may have lost today. Meditation, I have found, is an incredible way to simply stop and get quiet with God. Sometimes we come to God in our prayer time or thoughts with so many questions and comments but have you ever considered listening to what God wants to say to you? That is my purpose behind meditation, quieting my mind and spirit so that I can hear what God is saying. Click the link below and join me here Mondays for “Meditation Mondays.” #SLiM
Welcome back to meditation Monday! Today we are going to tune into the aspect of worship. One of the most amazing ways to block out the world, and tune into the internal voice of God inside of you… is through worship.
Worship a key that ignites the faith inside of you. When you slow down your day and make positive proclamations about God and life, God then pours His joy, His peace, and His goodness over both you and your situation. Psalms 49:10 says ” be still and know that I am God” acknowledging God and His greatness in spite of anything going on around you is the solution to your restlessness, stress, and anguish.
Check out this group called The Walls Group and their song “MY Worship” … Get to a quiet place and tune into the love of God. Selah
One of the greatest challenges in being “great” is developing patients. Patients to keep learning, keep pressing, keep smiling, keep being kind, to keep being hopeful even when things look to be going opposite of your way. Patients is one of the fruits of the spirit which is love.
True love says that “For God so loved the world that He gave” so giving is the personality of God and the personality of love. Why is it important to know this??? Because if you are in a relationship with God, then you must understand that love makes you wait because love perfects your gift before giving it to you.
For example, I can run to Walgreens and pick up any card and any gift, put it in a random bag and give my husband the present. But… because I love him, I go to the store look for a gift that would make him smile. I take the time to go up and down each aisle until I find something he would love and enjoy. Lastly, I choose a bag to wrap this gift into something that makes the present shine. If I love my husband enough to do all of this, how much do you think God loves us.
Yes, God wants us to have what we need and desire, but He doesn’t want to give it to us haphazardly. God takes His time, chooses the best gift with the best wrapping delivered in the best time so that it’s not only appreciated but cherished. Today, exercise patients and watch God bless you with a gift greater than you ever expected.
This song perfectly depicts the journey of a winner! enjoy
