Do you have questions about how God’s love has the ability to sometimes accompany pain and disappointment? Check out this classic movie: The Shack
The Shack for me has been the best illustration of God’s love and the complexities of life rolled into a two-hour representation of a true story. You may not receive all the answers you are looking for concerning pain and forgiveness, but if you watch it with an open mind then you just may find the peace you have been looking for.
We make up our minds and our hearts to let go, knowing that carrying around anger and judgment toward others or ourselves is a burden we no longer wish to bear.
Beginning to Learn to Forgive
By Rev. Bill Englehart
Jesus was once asked how often one should forgive. Seven times? His response was, “Not seven times, but, I tell you seventy-seven times” (Matthew 18:21-22).
Seventy-seven is not a magic number. Earlier translations say seventy times seven, or 490. It was simply Jesus’ way of saying forgiveness can be infinite.
To understand forgiveness, we need to understand what it is not. It is not about condoning bad behavior or saying we must trust those who have mistreated us. It does not mean that there will be no justice for bad acts.
Consider this from H. Emilie Cady’s Lessons in Truth, written more than 100 years ago:
“To forgive does not simply mean to arrive at a place of indifference to those who do personal injury to us; it means far more than this. To forgive is to give for—to give some kind of actual definite good in return for evil given.”
This may seem like a tall order but when done, we can see the results straightaway. I have known parents who forgave the person who killed their child. When I asked why, they said that if they had not, they would be consumed with anger and bitterness. Forgiveness was the answer.
To Reduce stress! One of the main benefits of meditation is stress reduction. Meditating in quite contemplation can help you relax, find peace of mind and ease tension so that you can control and manage your stress levels. Stress causes your heart rate and blood pressure to go up and too much of that can create health issues. Meditating for a few minutes every day helps you to let go of stress to achieve a relaxed state of mind.
Forgiveness is the act of releasing ourselves from the bondage of an ongoing negative connection. Forgiveness resurrects our peace of mind from the perils of victimhood and releases our negative judgments.
Why Do We Forgive?
We forgive to reclaim our equilibrium. It is a joy to forgive. It’s also worthy of note that the “Lord’s Prayer” says, “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.”
Special thanks to Rev. Bill Englehart for this incredible information.
Do you feel as if your life is full of stress? Then its time
to do what I call a 360. Look around at your friends, family, job, and
relationships to see what needs to change.
This meditation Monday I want to teach you how to find peace
in your day to day life. One truth that must be told before peace is achieved is…
what is the source of the stress?
If the stress comes from finances, take a moment
and write down your bills.
Check out Dave Ramsey which is and incredible
resource for budgets and a debt free life!!!
Relationships- learn how to say goodbye to
people who do not positively contribute to your faith and development.
Family- write out what the issues are in your
family, what problems and concerns have you been holding on through the years
and ask yourself two questions:
What would your day look like if I chose to
What would my life look like if they were not in
The answers to this question will allow you to see if that person
should be in your life. This also allows you to see that forcing the family
member has nothing to do with the opposing family member and everything to do
with your daily peace. Forgiving your family member will free you from the obligation
of anger, sadness, and stress.
When you think of meditation the picture is usually sitting
in a quiet candle lit room clearing your mind and heart of the things which may
ailed you. But there is more to mind cleansing meditation.
In fact there are activities you can do to calm yourself
down and free yourself from stress. I will list 3 of my favorites below, let me
know if you try or enjoy these as well.
I have a playlist for EVERYTHING, one for being
happy, sad, motivated and more. Music has a unique ability to lift you beyond
the current mental state and into the place you would like to be. Make a
playlist, sing the songs, and watch your mood instantly change.
Letting your emotions out artistically is always
a great way to express your mood without negative repercussions. With art you
can be as sharp and dark as you would like and then walk away leaving both the
art and the emotion on the canvas.
Instead of allowing emotion to build up try going
to the gym and working out your emotions. When you are in the gym you can turn
off the situation in your mind and turn on your adrenaline!
Dreams, déjà vu, ah-ha moments all have one thing in common.
It is a moment where the supernatural meets the natural.
Have you ever experienced a time where you see God connect the
dots and make muddy waters clear on and idea or situation?
The special moment is important, because if you are a
believer, then you understand that God has intention in our life and desires
for us to tap into His glory and provision. When we present our bodies as a
living sacrifice pure and open to the will of God, we then encourage these life
altering moments into our life.
What do I mean by a sacrifice, I mean “praying instead of
watching tv ” More examples are : Reading your bible every day, taking time out
of your day to worship God just because He is God. All of these thigs are a sacrifice
because quite frankly you don’t have to do them.
God is always assisting and uplifting us, we must choose to
tune into His love and divine power.
Like an ocean, the perception of self-flaws clashes and
evolves with age, experience and time.
No one feels confident all the time, capable all of the
time, committed all of the time… so what do you do when the tides change?
My advice is to set up reminders of your best self during a
high tide while you are feeling motivated and refreshed. Cut out pictures,
journal or even record a positive reminder of who you want to be and what you
want out of life. The bible says, “make the vision clear.” While the journey can
be unpredictable, there is a substantial benefit to adding intention into the recipe
Having a vision will remind your flesh that low moments are temporal
but the work you do now has the power to reconstruct your future.
Habakkuk 2:2-3 King James Version (KJV)
“2 And the Lord answered me, and said, Write
the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”
My daughter taught me to love myself. Birthing a beautiful
chocolate princess with cotton coils and a dimpled smile opened my eyes to the
beauty that is me. The way she studies how I hold my shoulders curve my lips
and tame my hair brought awareness to how I carried myself.
I had to think …
“Am I teaching my
daughter to like herself or love herself?”
“Am I putting up with my looks or appreciation my looks?”
Before my daughter I had not considered the importance of presenting
myself to the world. Not as a performance, but in an intentional way that says,
“I am important, I am loved, and I deserve respect.”
While I compliment my daughter and show her love, I realized
that the most effective way to teach her self-worth and confidence is to SHOW self-worth
One of the greatest lessons I have learned in life is not to judge a book by its cover. This interview is an extraordinary tale a woman who made mistakes, but intern learned to the true meaning of life. Enjoy and comment below.
