Learn to have fun again!

dad, Mom Life, parent, self help

You and your little genius has been in the home now for at least a week. A wonderful way to break the monotony is to tap into your inner child.

Remember what it was like playing games like castle… make pretend… or even tag. Throw the rules away and put caution to the wind.  Here is a list of fun and simple games that will allow you to let loose. I guarantee, you and your little geniuses will have a ton of fun!

  • Red Rover:
    • Two teams line up opposite each other, no more than 30 feet apart. The first team agrees to call one player from the opposite team, and chants, “Red RoverRed Rover, send (player’s name) on over!” The person called runs to the other line and attempts to break the chain (formed by the linking of hands)
  • Castle:
    • Save your little genius from a firy dragon! Take a toy and make it the enemy. Run through the house and pretend that you are doing everything you can to save the prince or princesses life.
  • Tea Party:
    • This is a great game when you want a calm environment. Put on something “ Fancy” and take out your tea cups. Sit, Pretend, and Sip
  • Tick Tac Toe
    • Make the game big by using blankets as the rows and pillows as the X’s and O’s
  • Home Olympics
    • Have your little genius run around the couch, jump zig zag through the kitchen, do a cartwheel at the front door.

What every you do, have some fun! The children will burn some energy and you will relieve some stress!

Message for the Moms

heart and mind, inspiration, life, parent

Moms we are the queens of time management! But, while getting things done is important, I want to encourage the moms out there that cant seem to get the ball rolling. You are doing OK! Your children are happy when you are happy. If there are things you would like to accomplish follow these simple steps.

  1. Take a step back
  2. Breathe
  3. Write a list of what needs to get done
  4. Highlight the top 5 items
  5. Work only on the top 5 highlights

When you complete the first 5 things, get another color marker and highlight 5 more. Keep repeating the process until all items are checked off of the list!

Let me know if this works for you below!

Top 3 Productivity and Calendar apps for families

Uncategorized

Check out these incredible apps which assist families in productivity and organization!

1. Google Calendar

The calendar from Google is one of the most-widely used apps because it’s free, simple and available on all platforms. All you need is a Google email address and you’re good to go. Google’s color-coding options make it easy to divide up different types of tasks, activities and events, so that each person can filter their view by what matters to them. The ability to share calendars make it the perfect option for busy families with older children who have a lot of practices and other dates to keep track of on a weekly basis

2. Trello

Trello is a project management tool that has been loved by professional project managers for years, but tons of families rely on it as well. Essentially an electronic corkboard, Trello can be as simple or as complicated as you would like it to be. You can create a “board” for anything, from a family vacation to meal-planning. Share it with your family members and anyone can add “cards” made up of links, thoughts, dates, to-dos and more. Family members can comment on cards and easily move them around by dragging and dropping. You can also find templates for Trello created by other families that you can save to your own Trello for your family’s use.

3. Cozi

Cozi has been around for many years and is still the go-to family organizational tool for many parents. It boasts a host of features such as family calendars, to-do lists, recipe sections, shopping lists and even a space for a family journal. Because there are so many features within Cozi, some parents find it overly complicated, but it’s still a favorite for many. With over 20 million users, Cozi is cross-platform and definitely worth checking out. The ad-supported version is free, but an ad-free version is also available as a paid upgrade .

Thank you Kate Ward for the incredible compilation article.

Scheduling Power

life, parent

As a parent or guardian, if you want personal time you must master having a schedule! Schedules may seem daunting and tedious, but it will allow you to be intentional about time with your little genius and time with yourself. A schedule does not have to be complex, simply outline what time you play, sleep, go on outings and eat. Setting these simple boundaries will introduce peace into your day and consistency into the day of your little genius.

#Fathersday

devotion, faith, fathers, God, poetry, self help, spirtuality

As Father’s day approaches I want to urge everyone to get to know the best Father you could ever have which is God.Whether you had a horrible dad or an amazing dad, it’s important that we acknowledge our role in contributing to who your physical father is in your life. It is our responsibilities to pray over the men in our life. Men are so strong and sometimes we forget that these protectors, laborers, and fortifiers needs spiritual covering as well. As this holiday approaches, let’s not just look for a tangible gift to give the father figures in our life, but this holiday presents the opportunity to sew spiritually into the men that we Love through prayer. Below I am going to present scriptures that you can incorporate into your gift of prayer over the men in your life. Happy Father’s Day!

Scriptures:

2 Peter 3:18, Proverbs 4:23- Concerning your loved ones relationship with God

Proverbs 15:33, Eph 6:6- That God will bless him

1 Corinthians 11:3- That they would be a spiritual leader for their family

Galatians 5:13-15- That they would make wise choices
