My daughter taught me to love myself. Birthing a beautiful
chocolate princess with cotton coils and a dimpled smile opened my eyes to the
beauty that is me. The way she studies how I hold my shoulders curve my lips
and tame my hair brought awareness to how I carried myself.
I had to think …
“Am I teaching my
daughter to like herself or love herself?”
“Am I putting up with my looks or appreciation my looks?”
Before my daughter I had not considered the importance of presenting
myself to the world. Not as a performance, but in an intentional way that says,
“I am important, I am loved, and I deserve respect.”
While I compliment my daughter and show her love, I realized
that the most effective way to teach her self-worth and confidence is to SHOW self-worth
See. Learn. Inspire. Make Moves
Am I the only one on this planet that must use extreme self-control when their song comes on? Currently I am in school and from time to time I must walk across campus, so of course, I am listening to music while doing so. When the music starts, I feel as if I have injected energy into my veins! It takes everything in me to just walk… I want to strut, flail my hands, stomp and more. Then, when my favorite line comes, I want to sing it as loud as I can, but… that is not what’s acceptable so what do I do????
I just walk, but just know, if you see me with headphones on, I am internally breaking it down!
Life is meant to be enjoyed. I know this topic is silly but it’s honest. We can spend so much of our life living “conveniently” or “properly” let us not forget how to dance too. I challenge you today to have a moment that breaks barriers. Have fun, laugh at yourself, dance and be free to do what makes you happy! Selah
Have you ever watched a dynamic movie or read a compelling book about success? During the story, you follow the dreamer through the worst of times and then into the best of times. While you feel sorry for the dreamer as the description of poverty, sickness, or misfortune plages the character in the middle, you are still pleasant through the story because, in the end, the character achieves success.
I want to encourage someone right now who is in the middle of their success in life because the middle of the success story absolutely SUCKS lol. And that’s ok …if the middle didn’t suck you and I would be content in our old habits, and continue down the road we are on even though God wants more for us.
I want to encourage the middle man! You, my friend, are great! To be on such a journey takes tremendous courage, and drive. Don’t give up, keep walking through the mud and before you know it, you’ll be at the top of the mountain! You will make it through this don’t give up now, because the story is not yet complete.
